HELLO

Hello am Jessica, whats you name ?. Welcome into my data science learning world, hmmm i can see the gear engines in you head turning lol. You thinking how can i be into data science, trust me am as shocked as you are but believe me when i say it’s not as difficult as you think to become a data scientist.

First i’ll start from the beginning how did data science find me. Been fresh out of university a young Nigerian looking into the labour market from the side lines and i wondered want do i really want to do with my life. I did not just want any job i wanted something that fascinated me and left me wanting more, i always loved computers and the IT world i think it i inherited it from my dad though he is a computer scientist.

Begin a computer scientist’s daughter always made me so proud so when he offered me a role at his firm i hopped at it with no second thought while waiting for National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) a compulsory service program to the country. Worked for a year as a customer relative office and once in awhile troubleshooting server problems that occurred found it interest that i could solve some issues by just switching the server off and on…lol i know you expected something huge. Well sometimes jus rebooting a server can save you a lot of heart aches.

After a year working for my dad i was called to serve by the NYSC and was posted to work in a school as a teacher assistance. Well that was something i had to do and get it over with, am not the most patient person in the world when it comes to children but i love them, funny right. Working there was not easy having to keep children in line is not an easy job i swear computers are so much easier to deal with, one weekend i came across an advert about data science for women. It said interested parties could i apply. Did not know what data science was about so i ran to my best friend Youtube (did i mention my obsession for youtube…its something else).

Watch so many videos about data science and took some short tutorial on it on youtube using excel for data analysis it was intriguing and thus i was hooked.
